Introduction

Digital Literacy Class: We are going to learn about so many incredible ways to be creative, collaborative, and to communicate. We will focus on computer skills and applications. Some topics you already know about, and you will know better, and other topics and applications will be new to you! Either way, we will work together to find the ones you are able to use best. This class consists of Project-Based-Learning. You will be given plenty of time to learn the skills and applications that you will use for a lifetime. I hope you enjoy the material we will cover. - Mr. S

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

STUDENTS MUST START BY READING ALL DIRECTIONS ON CLASS WEBSITE!

Students will finish creating and sharing the 10-slide presentations about themselves in Google Drive.  They will then give the presentations in class to their peers.  Students will also participate in a presentation rating process online, and learn how to share feedback constructively!

EVERYONE IN CLASS MUST HAVE AN ID PICTURE TAKEN TODAY!

The Day Has Come......

Today you will finish up your Google Drive MY BIO Presentations and begin to present them to the class!

When your name is called, I will find the Google Drive PRESENTATION you SHARED with me for credit.  You will click the PRESENT Button and go to the front of the class and give your presentation.

While everyone is watching you present, they will have the following website up on their computer.  After each presentation, students will fill out and submit the PRESENTATION REVIEW FORM.  I will make the final reviews public and you can log in and find the reviews of your presentation on your own.

Just about any school, career, or organization you join for the rest of your life will require some public speaking.  I realize we all just met, but you need to be able to stand up in front of a room full of people with confidence.  YOU ARE THE EXPERT ABOUT YOU!  Relax, breathe, present the autobiography calmly and loud enough for everyone to hear, and it will all be over in a couple minutes.

Good Luck!!

ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Students will learn the basic ways to complete internet-based research.
Students will focus on a famous historical figure and complete research about that person’s life, and a significant event during that time in history.
Students will be required to create a summary project based on that event and that person.
Students will review and comment on work created by their peers in class.

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

Students will use the resources in class to create a Facebook-Style page for a famous historical figure.  The page created must center around a specific event from that person’s life, and research must be done to describe the person, event, and other people who would have been involved!  Today students will focus on Page 1 and 5 to complete a Facebook-Style conversation. This is a single-step in a multi-step project.  Additional time will be allotted for students who fall behind to catch up.  Peer Mentoring is wildly encouraged.

STUDENTS MUST START BY READING ALL DIRECTIONS ON CLASS WEBSITE!

TODAY EVERYONE WILL CONTINUE THEIR WORK ON THE HISTORICAL FIGURE FACEBOOK PROJECT:

We will start with a brief Re-Introduction to the project and time for questions.  Most of you are on the right track, and just need additional time to get the project finished.  The projects are still technically considered late if they are not completed by 4pm Friday (Tomorrow), but I want to make sure that everyone has a chance to present their best work.  Monday we will be turning our final drafts of this project into a Tackk.com webpage about our Historical Figure.  Please finish work on this project for the next two days in class.

I want everyone to have the best chance of creating an interesting and complete project.  PLEASE USE THE LINKS BELOW TO REFERENCE THE PREVIOUS POSTS ABOUT THIS PROJECT.  Pay particular attention to the PROJECT DETAILS PAGE below for specific information about what is required for each page of your project:
