Introduction

Digital Literacy Class: We are going to learn about so many incredible ways to be creative, collaborative, and to communicate. We will focus on computer skills and applications. Some topics you already know about, and you will know better, and other topics and applications will be new to you! Either way, we will work together to find the ones you are able to use best. This class consists of Project-Based-Learning. You will be given plenty of time to learn the skills and applications that you will use for a lifetime. ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Students will learn the basic ways to complete internet-based research.
Students will focus on a famous historical figure and complete research about that person’s life, and a significant event during that time in history.
Students will be required to create a summary project based on that event and that person.
Students will review and comment on work created by their peers in class.

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

Students will use the resources in class to create a Facebook-Style page for a famous historical figure. The page created must center around a specific event from that person’s life, and research must be done to describe the person, event, and other people who would have been involved! Today students will focus on Other Historical Events (P.5) This is a single-step in a multi-step project. Additional time will be allotted for students who fall behind to catch up. Peer Mentoring is wildly encouraged.

When you have reviewed what is required, please take some time today to work on the Other Historical Events Section (Right Side of Page 5)

You must have a description of the event and a picture of it, or something that represents it.

The project must be based on an historical event that your person is famous for being a part of. These other events could be anything that happened throughout the rest of the world while your person was alive. Make sure they each have some historical significance that is noteworthy. Try to make them events that had some impact on your person, or that your person would have heard about somehow!

We will continue this project for the rest of the week!

Student Self-Assessments refer to training students to evaluate themselves, and their work, for the purpose of improving outcomes. To become capable evaluators of their work, students must have:
