 ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Students
will learn the basic ways to complete internet-based research.
Students will collect pictures for use in the online project.  Students will focus on a famous historical figure and complete research
about that person’s life, and a significant event during that time in
history.  Students will be required to create a summary project based on
that event and that person.  Students will review and comment on work
created by their peers in class.

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

STUDENTS
MUST START BY READING ALL DIRECTIONS ON CLASS WEBSITE!  Students will
use the resources in class to create a Facebook-Style page for a famous
historical figure.  The page created must center around a specific event
from that person’s life, and research must be done to describe the
person, event, and other people who would have been involved!
COLLECT PICTURES AND STORE THEM ON YOUR GOOGLE DRIVE FOR USE TOMORROW!

PICTURE DAY:  Today you will be searching online for pictures of the person you chose for your HFFP!  You must find pictures of your person, their home(s), events from their life and pictures of their friends.  You will need to UPLOAD these pictures into a file on your Google Drive so no one can ERASE them.  I would hate for you to have to do the same work twice.  Find as many pictures as possible, and make sure to label them so you do not forget.  Once you have collected and labeled all the pictures, you can upload them all at once to Google Drive.  I will show you how.

Today you will be finishing your HFFP Research Document by including a
Timeline of your person.  You must add as much information as possible.
Tomorrow we will begin putting the information into a logical form and
adding it to our Facebook Template.  MAKE SURE YOU READ THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE AND UNDERSTAND HOW TO DO RESEARCH ONLINE!
you will be learning how to do Online Research using the Internet.
Click this link to see an article from About.com on how to make Internet
Research easy and effective.

When you have read the article above and finished collecting pictures for your HFFP you can work on anything else you need to complete for my class.  Be ready to start creating your HFFP tomorrow!

Historical Figure Facebook Project 2015 - Timeline Day

TEMPLE STUDENTS:

Please take the following surveys that will help you to identify your
learning style and whether you are left or right brain dominant:

Follow these links to Left/Right Brain and Learning Style Evaluations:

Learning Styles

Left/Right Brain

You must show the Mr. S your scores on each evaluation before
moving on to the next one.  I will be walking around the room to help.
When you see your learning style or your L/R percentage, I must be able
to see it and record it before moving on.  Thanks in advance for
following directions.

When you are done with the above instructions, finish setting up your Weebly.com Website.

VILLANOVA / PENN / LASALLE / DREXEL STUDENTS:

Today you must FINISH all of your research. The next step in the process is to create a Timeline for the life of your Historical Figure.

Today you will expand your knowledge of the Historical Figure (HF) you
choose yesterday.  Please find three sources of information (No
Wikipedia, Wikianswers, or Search Engines (Google, Yahoo, etc)).  You
must find specific sources about the life and times of your HF.  Please
find as much information as possible about your HF.  You will need to
focus on a specific event or date from the history of your HF to create a
Facebook Conversation around.  Only find Friends for your HF that would
have been alive at the same time.  You will have to "Create" a
meaningful and timely conversation on your Facebook page that is
relevant to a historical event.  All of your posts should be
historically accurate.

Today's tasks are to create a Timeline of the life of your Historical
Figure and add it to the bottom of your Google Drive Document (Shared
with MR. S).  Make sure that you have named your Google Drive Document
in the following way: "HFFP (Name of your HF) (Your Last Name)"  My example
would be (HFFP JFKennedy Scribner).

You will also have to identify your additional three (3) sources of
information at the bottom of your Google Drive Document.  Good Luck!!

Mr. S
