Introduction

Digital Literacy Class: We are going to learn about so many incredible ways to be creative, collaborative, and to communicate. We will focus on computer skills and applications. Some topics you already know about, and you will know better, and other topics and applications will be new to you! Either way, we will work together to find the ones you are able to use best. This class consists of Project-Based-Learning. You will be given plenty of time to learn the skills and applications that you will use for a lifetime. I hope you enjoy the material we will cover. - Mr. S

Hour Of Code - Extended Learning

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT WEBSITE REVIEWS:  There is also a link (In the Critical Links 16/17 box on the right of the Class Assignment Site) to REVIEW the Strikingly Public Service Websites.  Click Here to see the list of topics by student, and review at least two other websites using the form.  The websites with the best reviews will be highlighted on our Class Assignment Site.

HOUR OF CODE EXTENDED LEARNING:  Today you will complete your Star Wars "Blocks" Hour of Code Game.  Make sure you Copy/Paste the link to your game in the COMMENT Section of the Schoology Post for this project for credit.

When you have completed the Star Wars "Blocks" Tutorial, try to complete the tutorial in "JavaScript Mode".  This will actually make you drag or type the correct JavaScript code to make everything work.  You can also work on another tutorial or section from Code.Org.  Some of you might even want to check out the following links for more coding projects:

Go to Code.Org, Sign-In, and work on the STAR WARS "JavaScript" Levels.  You can also work on any of the other Hour of Code tutorials.

Go to Made With Code by Google and create your own personal emoji.

Hour of Code HOLIDAY CARD (Lesson Page) Scratch Project by Harvard.  You can go straight to the SCRATCH by MIT workspace by clicking here:  SCRATCH HOLIDAY CARD

If you are looking for more coding challenges, try some of the reference sites at the Hour of Code Philadelphia site I created to help educators in our area:

Make sure you are going home this weekend and showing others how they can learn Computer Science.  Learning to code, and the logic, problem-solving, and creativity behind it is a fun and valuable skill to have in any career.  Enjoy this program, and keep coding!

Good Luck!
