 Tackk.Com "Giving Thanks" Project

Check out TACKK.COM.  I found this in a magazine on the flight home from
a weekend trip a couple years ago.  I thought this would be an interesting and fun way to
post information (Like Final Projects) for school.  You can
easily create single page websites for your work.  You could create a
single TACKK without logging in, or create a series of TACKK's.  Please
go to the website TACKK.COM to get started.  Make sure you add the TAG
(#rk8tech) to all of your sites so we can see them.

Here is the link for my GIVING THANKS Tackk.com Webpage:

Veteran's Day Project 2015

ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Today students will use a time in class to reflect on how they might be able to serve their country someday.  Students will be assigned a Journal Entry to write about what they think the meaning of military service is.
Students use the balance of class time to complete the WebQuest Project and anything else that is outstanding to date.  Students will create documents and upload files
appropriately for credit.  Students are required to finish a homework interview outside of class before the end of the 1st Marking Period.

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

Students will review ALL of the directions below prior to starting the project!  Students will go to begin by writing in their Google Document Journals about the question below.  Students will then review the Homework Assignment in their Google Classroom files.  Finally, students will utilize class time to complete the WebQuest Project assigned last week.  All other outstanding work will be submitted for credit prior to the end of the 1st Marking Period.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE TODAY!

Standards Covered In This Class

PA 3.7.7 & 11 Section C / ISTE 2011 / CSTA Tied With Common Core ELA/Math rev. 2014

Everyone:

In preparation for a day off on Wednesday, please view the following video in class:

GOOGLE DRIVE (DOCUMENT) JOURNAL ENTRY

Today you will use complete a Google Classroom Assignment and
write 2-3 sentences about how you might be able to serve your community
or country someday.  This service does not have to be in the armed
forces.  I want you to really think about how you can repay the gifts of
liberty and freedom that you have because you live in the United
States.  Consider the sacrifice of others, both in uniform and out,
while this country grew and up to the modern era.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR VETERANS DAY 2015

3rd Herd - Prior to Deployment (Fall 2007)

Please talk to a veteran that you know.  This assignment is due prior to the end of Marking Period 1.  You must find a relative or friend that
has served our country in the armed forces and interview them.  Find out
when and where they served.  Write a one-page summary of the
interview.  See the worksheet in your Google Classroom page.  Make sure to include how long they served, why they joined,
what was the hardest and easiest part of their service, and what they
feel about others serving.    Try to include a picture of the person in
uniform if possible.  Please email this interview to me so I can print
them and post them.  End your summary with how you feel about service in
the armed forces and why it is important to serve your country in any
capacity.

Thanks for your input on this project.

12 x 12 x 12 Response / Web Scavenger Hunt

Hello All:

Today you will be reading the following passage:

12 x 12 x 12 IMPRESSIONS

12 by 12 by 12 is the distance you are being judged by the people you meet every day of every week of every year of your life.

Your first impression starts 12 feet
away. This is the distance people see what you are wearing and how you
are acting. This is the first chance you have to make sure that people
see you in a positive, accepting light.

At 12 inches away you are now about
to speak. People will notice the minute details of the way your face
looks as you smile, frown, or grimace. People are judging your looks,
your demeanor, and the way you carry yourself. The
way you shake a hand, smell to others, and present yourself are now
under the microscope and you should be aware that what you are about to
say will forever place a note in people’s head about your level of
maturity.

Finally, the first 12 words you speak
are a reflection of your heritage, upbringing, and education level.
Whether you like it or not, the person you are interacting with is
taking a mental picture of you for future reference. What kind of
picture have you given them? How can you make a difference in how you
appear? The mark we leave on the world is a made up of the thousands of
appearances in other people’s memories. How you are perceived by
others is the only yardstick we are all measured equally by. Make your
impression a positive lasting one with others, and you will make your
world a better place live in.

Once you have read the passage above
(12x12x12) please open your Google Classroom and complete the document that has been placed in the SHARED WITH ME Folder on your Google Drive.  Write, in your own
words, how you will change the way you act because of what you read.
Please write 3-4 sentences about how this will impact you and the
impression you leave with others.

Once you have completed your worksheet and submitted it, you will work quietly on the following lesson:
