Introduction

Digital Literacy Class: We are going to learn about so many incredible ways to be creative, collaborative, and to communicate. We will focus on computer skills and applications. Some topics you already know about, and you will know better, and other topics and applications will be new to you! Either way, we will work together to find the ones you are able to use best. This class consists of Project-Based-Learning. You will be given plenty of time to learn the skills and applications that you will use for a lifetime. This reference site was created to allow students to have 24-hour access to my Business Technology Curriculum Online! Every assignment, link, project, or important thought about my class has been carefully stored here since 2012! You will find daily instructions, lesson plans, and links to help you succeed both in my class, and in life. Memorial Day Project 2016

ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Scholars will reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day. Scholars will review websites and a video about the origin of the holiday. Scholars will be able to contribute to a class presentation about the Medal of Honor and share one of the citations that they find significant.

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

Scholars will sign into Google and READ ALL DIRECTIONS on the class Assignment site. Scholars will watch an instructional video about the origins of the Memorial Day holiday, and will answer a Constructed Response on Google Classroom. Scholars will then browse the citations and historical documents on the referenced website. Scholars must add a slide to the class project and follow all directions described there.

As you know, I am a Veteran of the US Army. This past weekend was a time for you to
relax and enjoy a well-deserved rest. While we celebrate our Veteran's
on another day, please bear in mind the following excerpt from

MEDAL OF HONOR PROJECT:

Please go to the following link (http://www.history.army.mil/moh/).
You will be able to choose the period in history you would like to know
more about. I would like you to pick one Medal of Honor winner from
history. Look through them carefully. Once you have identified one
Medal of Honor citation to work with, you will be required to post it to
our Google Document that is Shared:

I would like you to add a slide to this presentation. You will OPEN YOUR OWN GOOGLE PRESENTATION AND CREATE A SINGLE SLIDE TO INCLUDE IN THIS PROJECT. YOU MUST CREATE THE SLIDE WITH THE DIRECTIONS LISTED ON THE PROJECT PRESENTATION AND EMAIL ME YOUR SLIDE WHEN IT IS COMPLETED. I WILL COPY AND PASTE YOUR SLIDE INTO THE OVERALL PROJECT FOR CREDIT. Make sure you
find a picture of the person you found, a link to that person's citation
page, and a thoughtful reason why you picked them. I will publish this
document for everyone to see so make sure your name and class period is
on it as well.

Make sure you spend some time thinking about those who
gave all for you to live in a country that is free and has opportunity
that is found no where else.

Scratch Digital Animation 2016

ACADEMIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Scholars will create and use new accounts on SCRATCH.MIT.EDU. Scholars will be able to begin working independently on the basic tutorial. Scholars will use previous experience with "drag-and-drop" programming to create digital animation shorts.

STUDENTS WILL ENTER THE CLASS QUIETLY AND BEGIN WORKING!

Scholars will sign up for accounts on SCRATCH.MIT.EDU and begin working through the program online. Scholars will complete the Introduction Step-by-Step course for credit. Once they complete the basic learning program, scholars can pair program a digital animation, short game, or other project. Scholars may work with a partner on their project. Scholars will be encouraged to browse and share projects from the extensive library of existing projects.

Step 1: Sign into your GMAIL Account online.

Step 2: Go to SCRATCH.MIT.EDU and create an account

Step 3: Verify your email using your GMAIL Account.

MAKE SURE YOUR REMEMBER YOUR SCRATCH.MIT.EDU Username and Password!

Step 4: Find the "STEP-BY-STEP" Introduction Program under the HELP Tab on the Scratch Website!

Step 5: Work on the "Step-by-Step" Program Independently.

Step 6: When Complete, MAKE SURE YOU SHOW MR. S YOUR PROGRESS FOR CREDIT!

Step 7: Choose a partner and design a game or digital animation project. Next class you will be given the tools you need to submit your project idea and have it approved prior to starting. You can also spend some time enjoying the library of games and projects that can be played or shared once you have completed the introduction course.

SELF-ASSESSMENTS

Student Self-Assessments refer to training students to evaluate themselves, and their work, for the purpose of improving outcomes. To become capable evaluators of their work, students must have:

- a clear target (goal)

- the opportunity to help create definitions of the quality of work.

- the opportunity to correct, or self-adjust, their work before turning it in.

Students are also prompted to reflect and evaluate strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement. These skills will allow for planning, improvement, goal-setting, and reflection. Emphasis will be placed on integration of previous learning across the school curriculum.
